Organizations consist of groups of people, human beings. Therefore, safety, health and general wellbeing are always a major concern for management. At Royal IHC, sustainable employability became a key concern, because of the shifting retirement age and increasing average age of the workforce. This concern needed to be addressed, by creating focus and developing a plan of approach to work on improvement. All members of management were encouraged to engage in actual safety audits on the shop floor or on board. As a result: focus, buy in and goodwill from other employees. Results in terms of improvement followed suit.
